Three targeted 2-hour workshops for families, first responders/medical professionals, and workplaces, offered as individual sessions.

Develop an accurate, research-based understanding of autism and neurodiversity across home, emergency, and workplace settings.

Apply practical communication, sensory, and de-escalation strategies tailored to real-world environments.

Recognize strengths, support needs, and inclusive practices that foster independence, safety, and participation.

Build confidence in responding appropriately and ethically in everyday and high-stress situations.

Workshop at a Glance

Session 1 — Families & Caregivers

Title: Supporting and Understanding Your Loved One on the Spectrum

Myth-busting basics of autism and neurodiversity.

Everyday communication tools and visual supports.

Understanding sensory triggers, regulation, and routines that help.

Ways to foster independence and self-advocacy.

 

Session 2 — First Responders & Medical Professionals

Title: Autism Awareness for Emergency and Health Care Settings

How autism may present under stress (meltdown vs. defiance).

Calm, clear communication when speech is limited or delayed.

Sensory-aware de-escalation and scene adjustments.

Scenario practice: traffic stop, medical exam, evacuation.

 

Session 3 — Workplaces & Community Organizations

Title: Building Autism-Inclusive Workplaces & Services

Common strengths and support needs at work.

Simple environmental and communication adjustments.

Inclusive interviewing, onboarding, and mentoring practices.

Creating a neurodiversity inclusion plan.

 

Delivery & Scheduling: Sessions are offered individually as half-day workshops on a single registration page, with participants selecting their session. Groups may also request all three sessions together.
